Deacon, Teacher, Priest and Elder

Sam was ordained a Deacon yesterday, along with two of his friends, so now I have a Deacon, Teacher, Priest and Elder. How cool is that? What a wonderful blessing the priesthood is! I am so very thankful for it and for all the great men in my life who hold it.

Blessings come in other forms too. Late last night I had to go down to the basement for TP. As I started down the stairs, I had the horrifying realization that last time I had come downstairs for TP, I had taken up the last of it, and of course promptly forgot to do anything about it. I wanted to cry. It was late on a Sunday night and that time of the month. (TMI!) What was I going to do without TP? I had reached the bottom of the stairs by then, and looked up to find one last package of toilet paper still there in the basement. Crisis averted. Thank you, Lord. I went to the store today and bought 36 packages of toilet paper. That's 144 rolls. So, we should be good for a while

Okay, you probably didn't need that story. I hope everyone has a terrific Fourth of July!

Celebrating Summer

Here are the things I love about summer:

Fresh fruit. Strawberries, watermelon, cherries, grapes, pineapple, peaches, plums... I hope my fruit gorge during the summer makes up for the fact that I don't eat  it in the winter.
Barbecues.
Picnics. Yeah, more food.
Swimming pools and the smell of sunscreen
Thunderstorms
Camping
No schedules
No socks
Sitting on the porch swing and watching the stars
The smell of pines coming down with the canyon breeze in the evening
The Fourth of July

Summer is so short! Savor every moment. What do you love best about summer?
