Cameo

I don't post much since I started my gardening blog, so I thought I'd just say hello and share one of my all-time favorite Haikus (it was really hard to pick one out of the mess of Haikus I absolutely love).

One of the most insulting billboards I get to see on the way to work says:

Smart people buy cameras from a camera store.

So, now you know. I'm not a smart people.

Oh, and I saw an SUV on the freeway yesterday that was advertising a "mobile spa." It was pulling one of those trailers made from a pickup truck bed. Are you thinking what I was thinking?

Sam's 11th Birthday

My kids are growing up! For Sammy's birthday on Wed., he invited five friends over and we all went swimming at the Payson pool. I brought along Ryan and Rusty to help keep track of everyone. Xander was asleep when we arrived, so Ryan took Camary to the pool, and I sat there on the towel and worked on my novel! (Eventually, he woke up, and I got to swim too.) How's that for a cool birthday party? Then we came home for cake and ice cream and present opening. Everyone had a great time. I'm all about easy when it comes to birthday parties! Sam wanted steak and baked potatoes for his birthday dinner. I bought rib-eyes. Mmmmmmm. It was so delicious! Now today he's on his first scout camp, at Adventure Park with the eleven year old scouts. The boys' first campout with the scouts always makes me nervous for some reason, but I'm sure he'll have fun. Here are a few pictures of the birthday festivities.

Our camera batteries were both about dead, so we got no pictures of candle-blowing. Bummer. Oh, and speaking of rib-eye steaks, yesterday we got the half a beef we ordered from Real Foods market, all organic and hormone-free and all that good stuff. Boy, am I excited for all those steaks and roasts! I'm going to learn to make brisket. I can taste it already.

"The Bearer's Oath" is Available!

I am excited to announce that my novella, "The Bearer's Oath," is now available in Mindflights print edition issue #5. Order a copy here. The other stories in the issue are also great. You won't regret it. Oh, and isn't that cover just beautiful?

A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words

Okay, as a writer, I don't exactly agree with that, but I don't really want to do a thousand word post right now, so here are a few pictures that speak for themselves:
